What are chatbots?

A chatbot is a computer program that users interact with on a chat interface. Chatbots either operate on a list of pre-written rules or are powered by artificial intelligence.

So how are Conversica’s conversational AI Assistants different from chatbots?

Conversica offers a fully operational, conversational AI Assistant. Much of what she does goes well beyond a simple chatbot:

  • With virtually all chatbots, the human is fully aware that they’re interacting with a bot. While this is not inherently a bad thing, it is if you’re trying to engage people in routine human business conversations. Conversica’s AI Assistants ensure that people feel like they’re interacting with a friendly, helpful human.
  • Chatbots typically don’t engage in actual conversations; rather they provide information in response to a request. Conversica’s AI Assistants fully solve a specific business problem: Our AI Assistants automate the routine parts of the conversations so that humans can be more available to handle the non-routine parts of the conversation and even more efficient at driving business objectives.
  • Chatbots typically require extensive training by the user to ensure they know how to do the assigned jobs. Conversica’s customers don’t have to train our AI assistants to be good at their job. The Conversations that they deploy from day one are expertly crafted by subject matter experts in Sales, Service, Customer Success, and Financial collections and have been honed by the AI over the course of millions of prior conversations.
  • Many chatbots are stand alone programs, making it a challenge for businesses to seamlessly incorporate them into regular procedures. Our AI Assistants include technical integrations with over 45 different third-party systems (CRM, Marketing Automation, Email, SMS, post sale/DMS, etc) including Salesforce, Marketo and Hubspot.
